Kankakee Daily Journal Endorses Jeanne Ives for Governor

“Ives military background, leadership experience, economics training, and overall grit and spunk, as displayed in the debate and other situations, give her the edge in leading our beloved state back to a hopeful future.

February 19, 2018 – The Kankakee’s Daily Journal announced its endorsement of Jeanne Ives in the GOP primary for governor.

In endorsing Ives, the Daily Journal editorial board wrote, “Republican voters, used to deadly dull primary contests, might be asking themselves, ‘Who is this woman who keeps gaining on Gov. Rauner?’”

They describe Ives as the woman who “hammered” Governor Rauner in the Chicago Tribune editorial board debate.

The paper went onto note that many “feel Rauner has simply lost touch with his Republican base, and would be ineffective even if elected… Ives has no such baggage, and her military background, leadership experience, economics training, and overall grit and spunk, as displayed in the debate and other situations, give her the edge in leading our beloved state back to a hopeful future.

“I am honored to be endorsed by the Daily Journal,” said Ives. “The paper serves hard working families and businesses in an area that has been hurt by the terrible public policy choices made by the ruling class politicians in both parties including Governor Rauner. I’m running for governor to make our economy work for all Illinoisans – not just the politically connected in Chicago. I thank the Daily Journal for recognizing the purpose of my candidacy.”
